So anyone that knows my back story knows that before I was a DJ, I was a lighting tech. Ok, so I'm STILL a major lighting geek. I LOVE good lighting. I think its so important no matter what type of event you're at: wedding, prom, birthday party, night club, etc. We worked with our friends at sash&bow this past weekend to transform this boring wall divider (yeah those ugly things that divide the room) to this amazing draped backdrop unlighted by 24 of our RGB LED uplights. Look closely and you'll see pastel hues of blues, purples, pinks and green. By slighting changing every red, green and blue mixes on each light, we were able to create depth instead of a plain light wash. This added warmth to a room that could use it; the ceilings are 30 feet tall! I loved hearing the gasps from Alexandria and Mark's friends and family when they walked in the room. We were already creating memories and didn't even play the first dance record. Lighting matters!
(ps: chairs by sash&bow, amazing chandlers by buds n bloom) This was a very different wedding for me! Why? Well, I've known Sabre (Sabe-brah) since she was 6 years old! In fact, her mother, Wendy, is the reason I ended up moving to Wisconsin back in 2008. Wendy, Luis and Sabre are like a second family to me. We've spent many Thanksgivings, 4th of July's, birthdays. snow days, etc together so it was truly an honor when I got the celebratory call that Dave had proposed to Sabre last summer and that I must DJ their wedding. Forward to March 11th and we gave them the party deserving of two families that traveled from near and far (as far as Florida-they were not a fan of the cold wintery day!) My besties at buds n bloom did a gorgeous job with the floral (not only did it look amazing-it smelled amazing too,) candelabra and tree branch centerpieces (if you didn't already know, I am a HUGE fan of their "tree" center pieces with crystals and votives.) Our uplights added the perfect tint of rosé (yes like the wine) behind the head table, bringing a warm elegance to the room. The team at Oneida Country Club were on point as usual with amazing service and an outstanding meal (their tenderloin is perfection on a fork!) When it came time to party, we rocked the dancefloor with everything from Chance The Rapper (Sabre's favorite,) Michael Jackson, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Bruno Mars to The Beach Boys. By far my favorite moment of the night was watching Sabre get down with her mom (I managed to snap a pic, see below!)
Congratulations Sabre and Dave! I love the way you two look at each other (when you didn't notice I was watching you..hehe) I can't wait to be an uncle! |
